Clay Bean, Agility Instructor
Dogs have been in her life for decades. Clay found Cali in 2013. Together, they fell in love with agility, developed their skills, and dove into competition (AKC and USDAA). Firefly joined them in 2018, bringing extra spice to the family. Her agility foundation and connection with Clay are solid. They continue refining skills and teamwork. Clay’s “mother” trainer is Tammy Moody (Oregon School for Clever Dogs). That coaching is supplemented by other learning (live/online workshops/seminars and training/agility podcasts). Clay loves doing agility, teaching tricks, and just spending time with her girlies.
Clay offers individual and small group training at Infinity. Agility is a team sport. At its best, it is joyous and rewarding for both team members. Clay loves helping teams build their skills and connection. Her instruction is individualized and grounded in the needs of both learners. She tries to create a fun and dynamic learning environment, uses positive training methods, and encourages errorless learning.
Tammy Moody, Visiting Instructor
Tammy has been training dogs for more than 30 years, getting her start in competitive obedience. She started teaching agility in 2002 and in 2006 developed a training program, Oregon School for Clever Dogs, in Sherwood, Oregon. Now located in Central Oregon, Tammy travels to Eugene frequently to work with Infinity folks.
Tammy is best known for her positive and patient teaching style. When teaching she focuses not only on happy dogs but happy handlers as well. Tammy likes to emphasize trust and clear communication between dog and handler. Her focus is to help her students build a strong partnership on and off the course using reward-based training and play. In addition, her background as a Veterinary Technician and a Small Animal Massage Practitioner allow her to see when problems on course may be due to physical limitations and not necessarily training issues.
When not teaching others or training her own dogs, Tammy can be found enjoying the outdoors with her dogs in beautiful Central Oregon. Besides hiking and paddling, Tammy can be found spending time writing for her blog and Clean Run Magazine, recording podcasts with her pal Penny, photographing her adventures, and spending time with family and friends.
